My training is in Social Psychology with specialization in social cognition and intergroup relations. I examine gender and race stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination. My particular focus is on stereotype violation and how individuals who violate expectations are evaluated and treated.

My research program encompasses several projects that tackle interdisciplinary research questions in the subfields of behavioral neuroscience, organizational psychology, education, and health. Projects examine stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination from both the target’s and perceiver’s perspectives. My current research program investigates the mechanisms linking experiences of stigma to psychological well-being, cognitive performance, educational and career achievements, and physical health. I use multiple measures in my experimental research including self-report, implicit, non-verbal, behavioral, and physiological measures.
